The University at Buffalo – The State University of New York announces the establishment of a new graduate certificate program in Canadian Studies. This program builds upon the broad and deep interest in Canada of our students and faculty alike.
UB is uniquely situated to offer students a high-quality graduate program in Canadian Studies and to enhance our appreciation of the bi-national relationship. We are among the most active campuses in the entire United States in teaching and research related to Canada. Situated as we are along the border, our geographic proximity to Canada makes it possible to engage with the country and its people with ease. In support of our initiatives in Canadian Studies we have developed – and continue to develop - collaborative relationships with a number of Canadian universities and groups.
The Certificate requires 15 credit hours of Canada-related coursework, research, and/or internship experience. It can be completed in one semester. Students are encouraged to apply for our Advanced (Graduate) Certificate in Canadian Studies on its own, or to fulfill its requirements while simultaneously earning a graduate or professional degree at UB. Certificate students are eligible to obtain necessary visa status and financial aid where appropriate. All students who complete this program will receive a SUNY transcript and a Certificate from the State University of New York. More importantly, they will be equipped to contribute to the enhancement of one of the most remarkable and intimate bi-national relationships in the world.
