Welcome and Bienvenue to the homepage of the Middle Atlantic and New England Council for Canadian Studies (MANECCS).
As we start a new year, I would like to thank the immediate past-President, Robert Timko, for his fine stewardship of the organization over these past few years. Bob spearheaded the efforts to incorporate MANECCS as a non-profit organization and was largely responsible for the great success of our 25th Anniversary Conference held in Montr?al last September. And as many of you know, we have some exiting plans for 2007 and 2008.
MANECCS will again sponsor a roundtable discussion at ACSUS in Toronto this November 14-18th as well as host a luncheon at the ACSUS conference.
Perhaps even more exciting for the organization, MANECCS is in discussions with the Southern Association for Canadian Studies about holding a joint 2008 biennial conference in the Washington, D.C. area. This would be a wonderful opportunity to link together Canadianists from along the eastern United States and further expand the reach of our scholarship as well as networking possibilities. Please mark your calendars for October 2-5, 2008 and watch this space for more details.
In conclusion, I would like to wish you a happy new year and a good start to the spring 2007 semester. Please feel free to contact me at Robert.Bookmiller@millersville.edu about any ideas you may have about making MANECCS an even stronger organization than it already is.
With warm regards,
Robert Bookmiller
President, MANECCS
